From the Artist on this Piece- Watercolor and inkwash 36x44” The piece “Voices” is the depiction of the thoughts and emotions of someone dealing with Major Depressive Disorder. It attempts to capture the fear and turmoil of that person experiencing a panic attack, or, a flood of emotions at once. The wave of thoughts that this person is hit with when experiencing their panic attack, and the constant voices they hear in their head about how everything is crashing down, how nothing is okay, and about committing suicide, all convene at once until they feel nothing.
Victims... aren't we all?
Martina Juhlin
From the Artist on this Piece- Oil paint 36x44” The piece “Victims... aren’t we all?”, is inspired by the idea that everyone is fighting their own battles, and in some way or another, we are each a victim of something at some point in our lives. The idea is that everyone has their own demons, however, at the same time, each story has two sides, and those stories can be interpreted differently.
Too Much
Martina Juhlin
From the Artist on this Piece- Oil paint 30x40” The piece “Too Much”, is inspired by the feelings of someone, again, suffering from depression. This person has been so overwhelmed and overtaken by the heavy feelings and exhausting emotions associated with depression, that eventually, they become numb and either can’t, or refuse, to feel anything at all. The person depicted in the painting has felt nothing for so long, that they don’t recognize themselves and that they now will do anything to feel again
